Washington Day 1: Baseball

The day started with a hot (!) shower! That’s something I definitely missed with camping with cold showers, even in the heat… We then did a short bus tour around the city (to replace the one we missed yesterday). We saw sights

Journey to Washington, D.C.

An early start for a bus supposedly leaving at 5:00, however it didn’t actually arrive until 7:10 and didn’t leave until 7:50. Since the bus was delayed in the morning, we missed our evening bus tour. But instead some of us had

Packing-up Site

Although the participants and most of the staff pretty much entirely finished last night, the work was arguably just beginning for the stage crew as they needed to strip the entire stage back down to grass… So it was a 7:30 bus

Day 11: Closing Ceremony

We had our last full gig this mornings, playing at the flagged area down near the reservoir. Kind of a sad concert because of this, but we still had fun and got dancing to some of the rock band’s pieces! We started

Day 10: Sustainability Treehouse and Basecamp Bash C/D (2)

The day started with a really cool thing: we played in a really big treehouse, with a different section in each level of the treehouse! We spent a little of the afternoon napping again. To mark the nearing conclusion of the Jamboree,

Day 9: Poo and Basecamp Bash A/B (2)

At around 2:00 I woke up to a very loud sound coming from just outside the tent that sounded a lot like a very loud Mr Whippy ice cream dispenser. As it turns out, it was actually a lorry pumping away vast

Day 8: Basecamp Bash at F (2)

Sam and I started the day by walking around some of the activities in the summit centre including Brownsea Island again, where we got a talk given by ‘Robert Baden-Powell’! Then after a walk on the lake we met with the Queen.

Day 7: Scout’s Own

Today was an early start… A 5:30 alarm ready for a 6:30 bus to the summit centre. But was all worth it because today was the day we were playing on the main stage! We got there for 7:00 to setup and

Day 6: Rex Tillerson Visit and Basecamp Bash C/D

After another morning of lying in relatively late, Catrin and I went for breakfast together and then Sam and I got the bus into the summit centre. At around, we played entrance music for the official opening of the Rex Tillerson building

Day 5: Culture Day

Today was Culture Day which is where all the participants from every country try to give others a flavour of the things that they do. We didn’t have too much time to see everything, but we tried some British tea and marmite,
