Travelling Home and Thanks

Today was an early start: we got up at around 3:30. After loading the bags we got onto the bus. The bus was an interesting one… For a start, the door didn’t close, and the wheelchair lift also didn’t work (making it

Inside Iceland Tour — Day 2

Today’s part of the tour was 12 hours — so it was a very long day! However, I did manage to get in 9 hours of sleep last night (possibly the most I’ve had this trip). We stayed in a hotel overnight,

Inside Iceland Tour — Day 1

For the UK contingent, there was an option to do different tours of Iceland after the Moot had finished. I chose to go on a two-day tour called ‘Inside Iceland’. On the tour, I was with other UK Scouts. We left the

Day 9 — Activity Villages Part 2.5 and Closing Ceremony

On the site, there are 5 different villages: Yggdrasill (faith and belief), Eagle (taking risks), Dragon (arts and innovation), Giant (health), and Bull (environment and global warming). This morning, we had Dragon, although with the hecticness of leaving camp, we didn’t actually

Day 7 — Activity Villages

Our patrol was one of the patrols on breakfast duties, so we got up a little earlier than everyone else to prepare and cook. On the site, there are 5 different villages: Yggdrasill (faith and belief), Eagle (taking risks), Dragon (arts and

Day 6 — The Quidditch World Cup

We woke up today to attend ‘Wake Up Shake Up’, which was essentially just a performance of traditional dances from different countries. We then had the opportunity to go around program villages, which included a selection of games and activities — most

Day 5 — Shifting Camps

Today, we had a very well-welcomed lie-in until 9:30. It was a very cold night, but it wasn’t a problem as the Australian contingent leader needed a tent for the night, so he shared my ‘two-man’ tent with me. We had a

Day 4 — Community Service, Adrenalin Park, and a lot of Wind!

I was woken up just before 6:00 this morning by a lot of shouting and panic… It turns out that our mess tent was in the middle of blowing away! We managed to grab the tent before it caused any damage, and
